Storie, a pregnant pitbull, was rescued from a dog pound. It was then that the new caretakers realized she was overdue. Thinking the puppies would die, they expected the worst.
We now pick up the story where it was left off. Since all the puppies survived, even against the vet’s expectations, the young couple that owned Storie had a nice problem. They now had a household of 23 dogs.
Even if you like being around dogs, canines deserve some type of individualized care as well. The caretakers realized that to do the puppies justice, it was in their best interest to find viable households for them.
In spite of the stigma usually associated with pitbulls nowadays, they didn’t have to look far. As word of Stormie’s feat began to spread, the rescue center where Storie was originally at, had to act as an intermediary.
There was a flood of requests, where people wanted to share in the blessing of what these puppies represented. As they were still too young to be apart from the mother, it took a couple of weeks to have their eyes opened.
A few more weeks after (on the 10th one), all the puppies were taken care of, each with a home of their own. Now it came time to think of Storie, & where it could best be a good fit. Not too many are fond of older dogs, let alone a pitbull.
So that’s where social media comes in. Once this ‘Storie’ originally posted on FB, this pitbull’s ordeal fell with such force on a man, there was no other way but to solicit her. A time was programmed to meet Storie.
It was a match. Now Storie had found her true ‘forever home’. In order to protect her aging health & what she’d just gone through, our star canine was spayed. She had done her job, equally taking care of each of her 12-litter puppies, thus allowing them to thrive so as to find ideal homes for them as well.
It always pays to adopt from shelters. It’s a win-win-win (and sometimes, -win) situation.
