A female canine was adopted by a young couple. It was dog shelter serendipity the way she came literally walking into their lives.
After making the emotional decision, it’s when they noticed she was in late-stage pregnancy. This pit bull with pleading eyes was asking for a place to call home in order to properly deliver her litter. Storie is the pooch’s name, & yes, she did have a tale to tell.
She was part of a puppy mill whose owner decided she was too expensive to have around. Storie ended up being unceremoniously dropped at the dog pound. Once she was taken from the shelter, the rest of the story began to unravel.
This is not just any regular dog-loving couple. Of the 10 canines they co-own, almost half are pit bulls. All their dogs enjoy sleeping together in one bed, so they made it big enough for all of the pooches to fit. Nooks & crannies on the side for the smaller ones.
Mini-stairs leading up to the top of the bed for the larger ones that are either too old or injured from their past life of being abused. Because of how pit bulls are seen nowadays by the general public, they went to a shelter overflowing with them.
Due to their look, with a seemingly larger head disproportionate to their body size, they do tend to make people scared. It creates a domino effect which ends up generating State policies against them. Thus a larger number of them ending up in shelters when compared to other breeds.
As with any other dog, pit bulls don’t have an inherent predisposition for aggressiveness, & this is backed up by science. It’s not nature but rather, nurture that determines how evil is a particular canine. At the shelter while getting Storie, both the staff & they realized that it should’ve given birth by now.
No one knew why the pups hadn’t popped out yet. The couple had this premonition that Storie was in distress. For this, though, you’d just have to keep reading the next part..
